Your details are only shared with the listing agent, who may follow up about homes you’re interested in.

What to ask on an open house sign-in sheet

Keep it to what you’ll actually use when you follow up. Every extra box is a reason for someone to skip the sheet.

  • Name, phone, and email. Phone for a quick text the same day, email for the listing details.
  • Are you working with an agent? If they are, send a thank-you and leave it there. It saves you an awkward call and keeps you on good terms with other agents.
  • When do you hope to move? It tells you who to call first. Someone moving in the next three months gets a call tonight. Someone just looking gets a friendly email and a check-in later.

Tell people what you’ll do with their details. The sheet says it plainly at the bottom, which makes people more willing to write a real email address.

Follow up the same day

Most open house visitors hear from nobody, or from an agent a week later. A short note that evening stands out. Thank them for coming, mention one thing about the home they seemed to like, and offer one easy next step, like a list of similar homes.

If they don’t reply, try again in a few days with something useful rather than “just checking in.” Our follow-up email templates have a sequence you can copy.

Paper sheet or phone sign-in?

Paper is easy and everyone knows what to do with it. The catch is the typing afterward, and the handwriting you can’t read. A QR code by the door lets people sign in on their own phone instead, so you get a clean email address and nothing to type up.

Many agents put out both. The QR code catches people who’d rather tap, and the paper sheet catches everyone else.

Questions agents ask

Is this really free?
Yes. Make as many sheets as you like. Nothing to sign up for, and nothing you type is sent anywhere. It stays in your browser.
What should the QR code link to?
The listing page, your website, or an online sign-in form if you have one. If you leave it empty, you get a paper-only sheet. With Real Extent, the QR code opens a short sign-in form on the visitor’s phone and they land straight in your leads.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Press “Print the sheet” and pick “Save as PDF” as the printer. It’s sized for one US Letter page.
How many people fit on one sheet?
Fourteen. Print a few copies for a busy weekend.

Let visitors sign in on their phone, and have the thank-you emails written for you

Real Extent makes a QR code for each open house. Visitors sign in on their phone in about 20 seconds, they’re added to your leads, and a thank-you email in your voice is written for them. It waits for your OK until you tell it to send on its own. People who say they already have an agent aren’t chased.

Plans from $19/month, billed when you subscribe. Sending starts on Ask first. Need setup help?
